Target Information

PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. PTK2B regulates reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling. It plays a role in humoral immune response regulation, maintaining marginal B-cell levels in the spleen, and normal B-cell migration. It functions in signaling downstream of integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating responses to cellular stress.
Aberrant FAK2 expression may contribute to cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Elevated expression has been observed in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.
