Target Information
Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is a multifunctional enzyme responsible for catalyzing the synthesis of palmitate from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA in the presence of NADPH, producing long-chain saturated fatty acids.
In certain cancer cell lines, FASN has been observed to fuse with estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-alpha), forming an in-frame fusion between the N-terminus of FAS and the C-terminus of ER-alpha.
