Product Specific Information

The DS7HAXL monoclonal antibody recognizes human Axl, a member of the TAM family of tyrosine kinase receptors that includes MerTK and Tyro3.
This antibody is validated for flow cytometry on both native and paraformaldehyde-fixed cells and can also stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues for IHC analysis.

Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells.

Target Information

AXL is a receptor tyrosine kinase associated with chronic myelogenous leukemia, colon cancer, and melanoma. It transduces extracellular signals via binding to growth factors such as GAS6 and mediates cell proliferation.
TAM receptors, including Axl, are involved in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Mice lacking TAM receptors exhibit autoimmune phenotypes similar to systemic lupus erythematosus.
Axl may also act as an entry receptor for filoviruses and serves as a marker for Siglec 6⁺/Axl⁺ human dendritic cells. Expression can be upregulated by TLR ligands (e.g., LPS, poly I:C). Soluble Axl is generated by proteolytic cleavage and may indicate inflammation or cancer.
