Product Specific Information

Description:
The 390 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD31 (PECAM-1, gpIIa), a 130–140 kDa surface protein expressed on endothelial cells and at low levels on leukocytes and platelets. CD31 mediates homotypic interactions important for adhesion, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, and signal transduction. CD38 has been reported to bind CD31.

Applications Reported:
The 390 antibody is reported for flow cytometry and in vitro functional assays.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse thymocytes and splenocytes at ≤0.5 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Cell number should be empirically determined (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimize titration for best performance.

Target Information

CD31 (PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling via ITIM motifs that recruit phosphatases upon phosphorylation. It is widely expressed in the vascular compartment, mainly at intercellular junctions. The N-terminal Ig-like domain mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 plays roles in integrin-mediated adhesion, transendothelial migration, angiogenesis, apoptosis, immune regulation, phagocytosis, anaphylaxis, and thrombosis, serving as a key regulator in vascular biology.
