Product Specific Information

The 90 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD38 molecule (~42 kDa type II transmembrane protein). CD38 is expressed at varying levels during B-cell differentiation and is also found on subsets of thymocytes, mature T cells, and NK cells. Crosslinking of CD38 induces B-cell proliferation, enhanced by co-stimuli such as IL-4 and LPS. CD38 also acts as a counter-receptor for CD31 and functions as an ectoenzyme with cyclase and hydrolase activity, playing roles in lymphocyte activation and differentiation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis and functional assays.
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes; effective at ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Target Information

CD38 (NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein involved in activation, proliferation, and differentiation of lymphocytes, as well as apoptosis of progenitor cells. It functions as a multi-catalytic ectoenzyme (ADP-ribosyl cyclase, cyclic ADP-ribose hydrolase, NAD⁺ glycohydrolase) and as a cell surface receptor. CD38 antibodies are useful in subtyping lymphomas and leukemias, detecting plasma cells, and identifying activated B and T cells. CD38 is also expressed in pancreas, liver, kidney, malignant lymphoma, and neuroblastoma. Dysregulation is associated with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and Richter’s Syndrome.
