Target Information

DNA-dependent RNA polymerase catalyzes the transcription of DNA into RNA using ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates.
POLR3G is a specific peripheral component of RNA polymerase III, which synthesizes small RNAs such as 5S rRNA and tRNAs.
It may interact with other members of the RPC3/POLR3C–RPC6/POLR3F–RPC7/POLR3G subcomplex to bind RNA Pol III to the TFIIIB–DNA complex.
POLR3G plays a key role in sensing and limiting infection by intracellular bacteria and DNA viruses, acting as a nuclear and cytosolic DNA sensor involved in innate immune response.
It can sense non-self dsDNA and transcribe it into dsRNA, which induces type I interferon and NF-κB activation through the RIG-I pathway.
