This antibody detects endogenous levels of alpha-Actinin only when phosphorylated at Tyr193.

Target Information

Alpha Actinin 1 belongs to the spectrin gene superfamily, a group of cytoskeletal proteins that includes alpha and beta spectrins and dystrophins. Alpha actinin is an actin-binding protein with multiple roles across various cell types.

• In nonmuscle cells, the cytoskeletal isoform is found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, where it binds actin to the membrane.
• In skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle cells, it localizes to the Z-disc and dense bodies, anchoring myofibrillar actin filaments.
• This gene encodes a nonmuscle, cytoskeletal alpha actinin isoform and maps to the same site as the erythroid beta spectrin gene.
• Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
