Clostridium Perfringens Agar Base
Details
Clostridium perfringens Agar Base is recommended for isolation and identification of Clostridium perfringens from unheated food material. If desired, Kanamycin can be added to the medium which restircts the growth of other bacteria. Lecithinase of C.perfringens degrades lecithin of egg yolk, forming an insoluble opaque precipitate. Tellurite and Kanamycin are selective agents added to the medium. Also tellurite gets reduced thereby imparting black colouration around the colony.
