Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45808 was sufficient for detection of Malondialdehyde in 2 µg of Malondialdehyde conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Malondialdehyde conjugated proteins. Does not detect free Malondialdehyde. Does not cross-react with Acrolein, Crotonaldehyde, Hexanoyl Lysine, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Methylglyoxal modified proteins.
Target Information
Malondialdehyde (CH₂(CHO)₂) is an organic compound and a byproduct of lipid metabolism. It is a highly reactive electrophilic species that forms covalent adducts with proteins, known as advanced lipoxidation end products (ALE).
Malondialdehyde also reacts with DNA bases such as deoxyadenosine and deoxyguanosine, forming mutagenic adducts. It is naturally present in various foods and found in high concentrations in rancid products.
