Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45810 was sufficient for detection of Methylglyoxal in 0.5 µg of Methylglyoxal conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for Methylglyoxal-modified proteins. Does not detect free Methylglyoxal.
Does not cross-react with Acrolein, Hexanoyl Lysine, Malondialdehyde, 4-Hydroxy-2-hexenal, 4-Hydroxy nonenal, or Crotonaldehyde modified proteins.

Target Information

Methylglyoxal (pyruvaldehyde, 2-oxopropanal) is an organic compound with the formula CH₃C(O)CHO. It contains both aldehyde and ketone groups, and in aqueous environments, exists as hydrates and oligomers. It is a reduced derivative of pyruvic acid.
