Target Information
Neurogenin 1 (NeuroG1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor that plays a critical role in cell fate determination during development. It functions during neurogenesis and inhibits the differentiation of neural stem cells into astrocytes. NeuroG1 promotes neurogenesis by acting as a transcriptional activator and prevents astrocyte differentiation by sequestering the CREB-binding protein transcription complex and inhibiting STAT transcription factors essential for gliogenesis.
