Target Information
Neurogenin 1 (NeuroG1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor involved in cell type determination during development. NeuroG1 plays dual roles in cell fate specification: it promotes neurogenesis as a transcriptional activator and inhibits astrocyte differentiation by compartmentalizing the CREB-binding protein transcription complex and suppressing STAT transcription factors essential for gliogenesis.
