Product Specific Information

This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope on gamma-epsilon and delta-epsilon dimers of the human CD3 complex, which is part of the multisubunit T cell receptor complex (CD3/TCR) expressed on peripheral blood T lymphocytes and mature thymocytes.

Target Information

The CD3 subunit complex is essential for transducing antigen-recognition signals into T cell cytoplasm and regulating surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta) are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded on chromosome 11. These subunits contain cytoplasmic tails with tyrosine-based motifs mediating signal transduction. CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but not on B or NK cells. Defects in CD3 genes are linked to CD3 immunodeficiency.
