Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits are cloned and expressed, and individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by adding the telomere repeat TTAGGG. The enzyme consists of:

• A protein component with reverse transcriptase activity (encoded by the TERT gene)
• An RNA component serving as a template for telomere repeat synthesis

Telomerase expression is repressed in postnatal somatic cells, leading to progressive telomere shortening and cellular senescence. Deregulation of telomerase expression may contribute to oncogenesis. Studies in mice suggest telomerase also participates in chromosomal repair through de novo synthesis of telomere repeats at double-stranded breaks.
Alternative splicing of TERT produces multiple isoforms, which may regulate telomerase activity.
