Product Specific Information

MA1-754 detects presenilin 2 protein (PS2) from rat, mouse, human, and nonhuman primate samples. No cross-reactivity is observed with presenilin 1.

It has been validated in immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, Western blot, and ELISA assays.
In Western blot, it detects approximately 20 kDa PS2 C-terminal fragment and ~45 kDa full-length PS2 from transfected COS-7 cells.
In 4% paraformaldehyde-fixed RAW cells, MA1-754 shows specific Golgi and ER labeling.

The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues C L(317) P Y D P E M E E D S Y D S F G E P(334) of human PS2.

Target Information

Mutations in presenilin proteins (PSEN1 or PSEN2) or the amyloid precursor protein (APP) are associated with inherited forms of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).
These mutations increase production of the longer amyloid-beta form, the main component of amyloid deposits in AD brains.
Presenilins are thought to regulate APP processing through effects on gamma-secretase and may also be involved in Notch receptor cleavage.
Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms of PSEN2 have been identified.
