Human Sorcin은 hamster Sorcin과 95%의 서열 유사성을 가지며, Annexin VII, cardiac ryanodine receptor, L-type Ca²⁺ 채널과 상호작용하여 세포 내 Ca²⁺ 항상성에 관여합니다.
심근 및 골격근의 흥분-수축 과정에서 Ca²⁺ 순환 및 유입 경로 조절에 중요하며, 다제내성(MDR) 세포에서 과발현되어 세포사멸 조절 경로에 영향을 미칩니다.
AML 예후 예측용 MDR 표지자로 활용되며, 항-MDR 약물 개발의 타깃으로 연구됩니다.
