This antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The LRP2 (low density lipoprotein-related protein 2, also known as megalin) gene encodes a multi-ligand endocytic receptor expressed in various tissues, predominantly in absorptive epithelial tissues such as the kidney.
This glycoprotein features a large extracellular domain, a single transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail.
The extracellular domains bind diverse macromolecules including albumin, apolipoproteins B and E, and lipoprotein lipase.
LRP2 is essential for the reuptake of lipoproteins, sterols, vitamin-binding proteins, and hormones, and also participates in cell signaling.
Extracellular ligands include parathyroid hormones and sonic hedgehog, while cytosolic ligands include MAP kinase scaffold proteins and JNK interacting proteins.
Recycling of the receptor is regulated by phosphorylation of its cytoplasmic domain.
Mutations in LRP2 are associated with Donnai-Barrow syndrome (DBS) and facio-oculoacoustico-renal syndrome (FOAR).
