Product Specific Information
Description:
The eB-h209 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD209 (DC-SIGN), a 44 kDa type II transmembrane protein with a C-type lectin binding domain that binds ICAM-3, ICAM-2, and HIV virus. DC-SIGN is preferentially expressed on human dendritic cells and may function as a receptor for capture, trafficking, and transmission of HIV to T cells, supporting primary immune responses. eB-h209 was developed against a C-terminal peptide of human DC-SIGN.
Applications Reported:
Flow cytometric analysis and immunoprecipitation.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of cultured human dendritic cells and peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage ≤1 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell count per test typically ranges from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells. Optimal titration is recommended for best assay performance.
Target Information
This gene encodes a transmembrane receptor known as DC-SIGN, expressed on dendritic cells and macrophages. It plays a key role in innate immunity by recognizing diverse pathogens, including viruses and parasites. The protein comprises three domains: an N-terminal transmembrane domain, a tandem-repeat neck domain, and a C-type lectin carbohydrate recognition domain. The extracellular region functions both as a pathogen recognition receptor and a cell adhesion receptor. The neck domain mediates homo-oligomerization, enabling high-avidity multivalent ligand binding. Variations in the neck domain repeat number affect ligand-binding ability. DC-SIGN is closely related to L-SIGN (GeneID 10332), differing in ligand specificity and tissue distribution. Multiple splice variants exist.
