Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, amphibian, mouse, and rat based on sequence homology.
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is breast carcinoma tissue.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein involved in cell-cell adhesion and signaling.
It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking the adhesion complex to the actin cytoskeleton.
Beta-catenin also associates with the adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in Wnt/Wingless signaling pathways.
Its nuclear function includes co-activation of Lef/Tcf transcription factors, promoting transcription of genes such as cyclin D and c-myc that drive cell proliferation.
Aberrant beta-catenin activity is implicated in various cancers including colorectal, breast, liver, lung, ovarian, and skin tumors.
