Target Information
HSPC142 is a component of the BRCA1-A complex, which specifically recognizes Lys-63–linked ubiquitinated histones H2A and H2AX at DNA lesion sites. This recognition targets the BRCA1-BARD1 heterodimer to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs).
The BRCA1-A complex also exhibits deubiquitinase activity that removes Lys-63–linked ubiquitin from histones H2A and H2AX.
HSPC142 is essential for complex integrity and localization at DSBs and may also function as part of the BRISC complex, which cleaves Lys-63–linked ubiquitin.
In both complexes, HSPC142 likely contributes to the stability of BRE/BRCC45 and supports Lys-63–linked deubiquitinase activity mediated by BRCC3/BRCC36.
