Description:
The AREG559 monoclonal antibody reacts with human Amphiregulin (AR). AR is a member of the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) family, expressed as a transmembrane precursor protein and released by proteolytic cleavage. Soluble AR binds to the EGF receptor (EGFR), promoting growth of epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes. In the immune system, AR functions in tissue repair, homeostasis, infection tolerance, and inflammation suppression. AR is expressed in T cells, group 2 innate lymphoid cells, basophils, mast cells, eosinophils, and neutrophils under various conditions.

This AREG559 antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of stimulated normal human peripheral blood cells using the Intracellular Fixation & Permeabilization Buffer Set (Product # 88-8824-00) and BestProtocols® Protocol A.
Use at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Excitation/Emission: 488–561 nm / 578 nm
Compatible Lasers: Blue, Green, Yellow-Green
Target Information
Amphiregulin (AR) binds to EGFR with lower affinity than EGF. The mature secreted AR is an 84-amino-acid glycosylated polypeptide generated by proteolytic processing of a 252-amino-acid precursor. Multiple EGF-like ligands, including EGF, TGFα, AR, HB-EGF, cripto-1, epiregulin, and betacellulin, bind EGFR. AR protein is localized in colon, stomach, pancreas, breast, and placenta epithelia and is overexpressed in several human cancers (breast, colon, stomach, pancreas).
