Product Specific Information

The 53-6.7 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD8a molecule, a 32–34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed as CD8αβ heterodimer or CD8αα homodimer.
CD8 is expressed on thymocytes, mature αβ T cells, γδ T cells, intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes, and dendritic cells.
It binds to MHC class I and associates with tyrosine kinase p56lck, playing a key role in T cell development and activation.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Mouse thymocytes and splenocytes, ≤0.25 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.
Antibody titration recommended for optimal performance.

Target Information

Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family.
It functions as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules, aiding T cell receptor (TCR) signaling and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
CD8 exists as disulfide-linked heterodimers (CD8αβ) or homodimers (CD8αα).
Upon MHC-I/peptide complex ligation, CD8 recruits Lck kinase, inducing lymphokine production, motility, and CTL activation.
Naive CD8⁺ T cell differentiation into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
