Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes porcine CD31, also known as Platelet Endothelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (PECAM-1). CD31 is constitutively expressed by platelets, monocytes, and some lymphocytes, and is highly expressed by endothelial cells compared to other cell types.
Target Information
CD31 (PECAM-1) acts as an inhibitory coreceptor regulating T and B cell signaling through ITIM motifs, which upon phosphorylation serve as docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases. CD31 is mainly located at junctions between adjacent vascular cells and mediates homophilic binding through its N-terminal Ig-like domain. It plays crucial roles in:
- Integrin-mediated cell adhesion
- Transendothelial migration
- Angiogenesis and apoptosis
- Regulation of immunoreceptor signaling
- Autoimmunity, phagocytosis, and thrombosis
