Target Information

DDR1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase activated by collagen and is reported to regulate adhesion, cell migration, and other cellular processes. Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) play a key role in the communication of cells with their microenvironment, regulating cell growth, differentiation, and metabolism. The DDR1 protein is widely expressed in normal and transformed epithelial cells and activated by various types of collagen (types I–VI). Expression is prominent in epithelial tissues such as kidney, lung, gastrointestinal tract, and brain, and is overexpressed in several human tumors including breast, ovarian, esophageal, and pediatric brain cancers. The DDR1 gene is located on chromosome 6p21.3 near several HLA class I genes, and alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
