Target Information
This gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to the high mobility group protein family. The encoded protein binds to a critical site in the T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer, conferring maximal enhancer activity. It is involved in the Wnt signaling pathway, and may play roles in hair cell differentiation and follicle morphogenesis.
Mutations have been associated with sebaceous tumors and androgen-independent prostate cancer.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
