Target Information
This gene is a member of the chimerin family and encodes a protein with a phorbol-ester/DAG-type zinc finger, a Rho-GAP domain, and an SH2 domain. It has GTPase-activating protein activity regulated by phospholipid binding. Diacylglycerol (DAG) binding induces translocation from the cytosol to the Golgi apparatus membrane. The protein is involved in smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration. Decreased expression is linked to high-grade gliomas and breast tumors, whereas increased expression is associated with lymphomas. Mutations have been correlated with schizophrenia in men. Alternate transcriptional splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
