Target Information
Apoptosis is a key process for normal development and tissue homeostasis, mediated by caspases leading to DNA degradation. ARMER, a novel integral ER-membrane protein, protects cells from ER stress-induced apoptosis by inhibiting caspase-9 activity. It is distinct from the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAP) family and lacks baculoviral IAP repeat (BIR) domains.
