Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes guinea pig THY-1 (CD90), a small but heavily glycosylated member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Clone CT4 was originally identified as recognizing a guinea pig homing receptor.
Target Information
CD90 (Thy-1) antigen is a GPI-linked glycoprotein member of the Immunoglobulin superfamily.
CD90 is expressed in murine T cells, thymocytes, neural cells, Kupffer’s cells, and fibroblasts.
It may play a role in cell-cell or cell-ligand interactions during synaptogenesis and other events in the brain.
CD90 serves as a marker for various stem cells and axonal processes of mature neurons.
Structural studies of CD90 contributed to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily and the first biochemical description of a vertebrate GPI anchor.
Diseases associated with CD90 dysfunction include nasopharyngeal carcinoma and thymoma.
