Target Information
This gene encodes a transcriptional regulator with bimodal DNA-binding specificity, binding both methylated CGCG sequences and non-methylated KAISO-binding sites (TCCTGCNA). The protein contains an N-terminal POZ/BTB domain and three C-terminal zinc finger motifs. It recruits the N-CoR repressor complex to promote histone deacetylation and repressive chromatin formation in target gene promoters. It may repress Wnt pathway target genes and activate others via interaction with catenin delta-2 (CTNND2). Interaction with catenin delta-1 (CTNND1) inhibits DNA binding. It also binds Importin-alpha 2 to mediate nuclear import. Alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
