Target Information
The NDUFS2 gene encodes a core subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I). This complex catalyzes NADH oxidation with concomitant ubiquinone reduction and proton translocation across the mitochondrial membrane. Mutations in NDUFS2 are associated with mitochondrial complex I deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist.
