EPHA3는 단백질 티로신 키나제 계열의 ephrin 수용체 하위군에 속합니다. EPH 및 관련 수용체는 특히 신경계에서 발생 과정 조절에 관여합니다. EPHA3는 ephrin-A 리간드를 결합하며, EPH 하위군의 수용체는 단일 키나제 도메인과 시스테인 풍부 영역 및 두 개의 fibronectin type III 반복을 포함하는 세포외 영역을 가집니다. ephrin 수용체는 세포외 도메인 서열의 유사성과 ephrin-A 및 ephrin-B 리간드 결합 친화도에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉩니다. EPHA3는 ephrin-A 리간드와 결합합니다.
