Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of DUSP1/MKP1 only when phosphorylated at Ser323.
Target Information
The expression of DUSP1 gene is induced in human skin fibroblasts by oxidative/heat stress and growth factors. It encodes a protein similar to non-receptor-type protein-tyrosine phosphatases and shares significant sequence similarity with a Tyr/Ser-protein phosphatase from vaccinia virus.
Purified DUSP1 protein exhibits intrinsic phosphatase activity, specifically inactivating mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase by dephosphorylating both phosphothreonine and phosphotyrosine residues.
DUSP1 suppresses MAP kinase activation by oncogenic ras in Xenopus oocyte extracts, suggesting its role in cellular stress response and negative regulation of cell proliferation.
