Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene and located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-kB p65 forms a heterodimer with subunits p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha receptor activation, IKK phosphorylates I kB, leading to its proteasomal degradation. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
