Target Information
GAPVD1 acts as both a GTPase-activating protein (GAP) and a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF). It participates in endocytosis, insulin receptor internalization, and LC2A4/GLUT4 trafficking. GAPVD1 regulates RAB31 activity by exchanging GDP for GTP, influencing GLUT4 vesicle trafficking. In insulin absence, it retains GLUT4 inside cells; upon stimulation, it relocates to the plasma membrane to release GLUT4. It also contributes to EGFR trafficking and degradation by promoting ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. GAPVD1 exhibits GEF activity for Rab5 and GAP activity for Ras.
