This antibody detects endogenous NPM1 protein at a molecular weight of approximately 36 kDa.
Purity is greater than 95% by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
NPM1 (Nucleophosmin 1, also known as B23, nutramin, NO38) is a ubiquitously expressed phosphoprotein involved in ribosome assembly and transport, cytoplasmic/nuclear trafficking, regulation of DNA polymerase alpha activity, centrosome duplication, and p53 regulation.
It shuttles between the nucleus, cytoplasm, and nucleolus, chaperoning core histones and preventing protein aggregation. NPM1 binds nucleic acids, protects enzymes during thermal denaturation, and assists in renaturation of chemically denatured proteins.
The protein is associated with centrosome duplication and interacts with tumor-associated chromosome translocations (e.g., NPM-ALK, NPM-RAR, NPM-MLF1). Dysfunction of NPM1 is linked to diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia and lymphomatoid papulosis.
