Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous HES6 protein at a molecular weight of approximately 30 kDa.
Purity is >95% by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The HES family proteins form complexes with TLE, the mammalian homologue of Groucho, mediated by the carboxy-terminal WRPW motif. These complexes bind directly to DNA. Most HES family members (HES1, HES5) prefer the N box (CACNAG) over the E box (CANNTG).
HES2 binds both N and E boxes, while HES6 does not bind DNA but inhibits HES1 activity, promoting transcription.
HES1 and HES2 are expressed in various adult and embryonic tissues, HES3 in cerebellar Purkinje cells, HES5 in the nervous system, and HES6 in brain and limb buds of developing embryos.
