Target Information
This gene product belongs to the 14-3-3 family of proteins that mediate signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. The 14-3-3 family is highly conserved across plants and mammals. This protein shares 99% identity with mouse and rat orthologs. It is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The gene contains a 6 bp tandem repeat in its 5' UTR, which is polymorphic but not correlated with disease occurrence.
