Pan Cadherin includes CDH1, CDH2, CDH3, and CDH4 proteins, which are transmembrane molecules mediating calcium-dependent intercellular adhesion.
Cadherins regulate morphogenetic movements during development and control cell surface adhesion through homotypic interactions.
N-cadherin’s function depends on its association with the actin cytoskeleton and interactions between its C-terminal region and cytoplasmic catenin proteins.
This gene encodes a classical cadherin, a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein with five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
It functions during gastrulation and is essential for establishing left-right asymmetry. In the central nervous system, it mediates presynaptic to postsynaptic adhesion.
