Product Specific Information

The 4S.B3 monoclonal antibody reacts with interferon-gamma (IFN gamma). Human IFN gamma is a 17 kDa cytokine produced by activated T and NK cells, exhibiting antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It synergizes with TNF alpha to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells. IFN gamma exerts immunomodulatory effects on various cell types expressing high-affinity receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

Applications Reported: ELISPOT, ELISA
Applications Tested: Used as detection antibody in sandwich ELISA for human IFN gamma in combination with capture antibodies NIB42 (14-7318) or MD-1 (14-7317), and recombinant IFN gamma (29-8319) as standard.
Recommended detection concentration: 0.5–2 µg/mL.
Include standard curve from 1000 pg/mL to 8 pg/mL.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.


Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced mainly by T lymphocytes and NK cells. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. On SDS-PAGE, it appears as 25, 20, and minor 15.5 kDa bands due to differential glycosylation. Biological activity is species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse.

  • Macrophage activation
  • Enhanced immunoglobulin secretion by B cells
  • Cytokine regulation via JAK-STAT pathway

Human IFN gamma shows ~40% sequence homology with mouse IFN gamma. Upregulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF; downregulated by vitamin D3 or DMN. Gene mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
