Target Information

C17orf37 (C35) is a novel tumor biomarker highly expressed in breast cancer. It is located on chromosome 17q12, approximately 505 nucleotides downstream of the ERBB2 (neu/HER2) oncogene. The C35 gene and ERBB2 are arranged tail-to-tail. The ORF37 open reading frame encodes a 12-kDa protein of unknown function.
The ERBB2 oncogene is a well-established predictor of patient outcome and therapeutic response in breast cancer. Identification of shared tumor-specific targets like C35 aids in developing broadly applicable cancer therapies.
