Product Specific Information
- In Western blot applications, this antibody detects a band at approximately 32 kDa.
- A suggested positive control is human spleen tissue lysate.

Target Information
The inhibitors of apoptosis (IAP) proteins prevent cell death both in vitro and in vivo by inhibiting distinct caspases.
XIAP (X-linked Inhibitor of Apoptosis) is a key member of this family. Its caspase-inhibiting activity is negatively regulated by XIAP-interacting proteins such as XIAP-associated factor 1 (XAF1) and Smac/DIABLO.
XAF1 binds to XIAP and antagonizes its caspase inhibitory activity, leading to redistribution of XIAP from the cytosol to the nucleus.
XAF1 is ubiquitously expressed in normal tissues but is present at low or undetectable levels in many cancer cell lines.
