Target Information
Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 3 (TIMP3)는 tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 유전자 패밀리의 구성원으로, 세포외기질(extracellular matrix)의 구성 요소를 분해하는 matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)의 활성을 억제합니다.
TIMP3는 유사분열 자극에 의해 발현되며, 아연 의존성 MMP에 비가역적으로 결합하여 촉매 아연 보조인자와 결합함으로써 MMP를 불활성화합니다.
또한 신경계 발달, 조직 재생, 시각 인지 등의 기능에도 관여합니다. 인간에서 TIMP3 유전자는 22번 염색체에 위치합니다.
