Target Information

ITGA3 (Integrin, Alpha-3), also known as CD49C, VLA3, or GAPB3, is encoded by the ITGA3 gene. It is an integrin alpha subunit and a member of the cell surface adhesion molecule family. Located on chromosome 17q21.33, ITGA3 forms the alpha3beta1 integrin duplex that plays a role in neural migration and corticogenesis with the beta-1 subunit.
A functional link between DAB1 phosphorylation and ITGA3 signaling regulates neuronal detachment from radial glial fibers. Expression of human ITGA3 increases viral infectivity in CHO cells. ITGA3 contains 13 potential N-glycosylation sites, 2 cleavage sites, and 7 N-terminal repeating units typical of integrins. Recombinant ITGA3 is expressed as a 150 kD protein, matching the native form in Western blot analysis.
