Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of STK3 only when phosphorylated at Ser316.

Target Information

STK3 (MST2) is a STE kinase family member that acts upstream of the MAP kinase signaling pathways. It is activated by proapoptotic stimuli such as staurosporine and FAS ligand. STK3 functions as a stress-activated, pro-apoptotic kinase which, upon caspase cleavage, translocates to the nucleus to induce chromatin condensation and DNA fragmentation. It is a key component of the Hippo signaling pathway, crucial for organ size control and tumor suppression by regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis. The pathway involves a kinase cascade where STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1, in complex with SAV1, activate LATS1/2 with MOB1, leading to phosphorylation and inactivation of YAP1 and WWTR1/TAZ, thus controlling gene expression related to proliferation and cell death. STK3/MST2 and STK4/MST1 are essential for repressing hepatocyte proliferation, preventing activation of adult liver stem cells, and inhibiting tumor formation.
