Product Specific Information

This antibody recognizes and binds the SARS-CoV-2 C-terminal receptor binding domain (RBD) located in the extracellular portion of the spike protein.

Target Information

SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), also known as 2019-nCoV (2019 Novel Coronavirus), is a virus that causes illnesses ranging from mild cold-like symptoms to severe respiratory distress and death.
The coronavirus Spike (S) protein plays a crucial role in viral attachment, fusion, and entry, and serves as a major target for antibody, inhibitor, and vaccine development.
The receptor-binding domain (RBD, S-RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein binds strongly to human and bat angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors. Compared to SARS-CoV, the SARS-CoV-2 RBD exhibits higher binding affinity to ACE2. The S1 subunit contains the RBD that specifically interacts with ACE2 on target cells.
