Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with cytokeratin peptides 5 and 8 (58 and 53 kDa). Cytokeratins are members of the intermediate filaments subfamily of intracellular proteins represented in epithelial tissues.
This antibody will not cross-react with Xenopus or chicken.
Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides.
They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Individual human cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20. The expression patterns of cytokeratin subtypes vary by epithelial type and differentiation stage, and are widely used in distinguishing epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools for tumor differential diagnosis via immunohistochemistry, as well as in cytopathology and flow cytometric assays.
