Target Information

RET receptor tyrosine kinase (ret proto-oncogene) is a member of the cadherin superfamily involved in cell growth and differentiation signaling. RET can undergo oncogenic activation through cytogenetic rearrangements. Mutations are associated with:

• Multiple endocrine neoplasia type IIA and IIB
• Hirschsprung disease
• Medullary thyroid carcinoma

RET signaling regulates development of the nervous and lymphoid systems in the gut, playing a key role in intestinal organogenesis.
