Target Information
The oncogene BCL2 encodes a membrane protein that inhibits apoptosis. The BAG1 protein binds to BCL2 (BCL2-associated athanogene) and enhances its anti-apoptotic effects, linking growth factor receptors to cell survival mechanisms. Multiple isoforms are produced from this gene through alternative translation initiation sites.
