Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-1α. Purified by affinity chromatography using immobilized Rat IL-1α matrix.

Sandwich ELISA:
For detection of Rat IL-1α, use 0.5–2.0 µg/mL of this antibody with PeproTech Biotinylated Anti-Rat IL-1α (500-P180GBt) as detection antibody. Detects ≥0.2–0.4 ng/well of recombinant Rat IL-1α.

Western Blot:
Use 0.1–0.2 µg/mL of antibody. Detection limit: 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.

IL-1α (Interleukin-1 alpha)
IL-1α is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Encoded by the IL1A gene on chromosome 2q13, it signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors shared with IL-1β. IL-1α triggers the production of other proinflammatory cytokines, initiating acute-phase responses. Its activity is modulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA). IL-1α regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, stimulates IL6 and COX-2 expression, and enhances nitric oxide production. Elevated IL-1α levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
