Product Specific Information
This antibody is predicted to react with Monkey, Horse, and Cat.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.
Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:
- Superior specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulations
- Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire
Target Information
Calbindin-D-28K (also known as vitamin D-dependent calcium-binding protein or cholecalcin) is a highly conserved 28 kDa calcium-binding protein with broad tissue distribution. It belongs to a family of low molecular weight calcium-binding proteins (CaBPs), including calmodulin, S-100, parvalbumin, and troponin C. These proteins share homologous primary structures with conserved EF-hand motifs for Ca²⁺ binding.
Calbindin-D-28K is predominantly found in subpopulations of central and peripheral nervous system neurons and in epithelial cells involved in Ca²⁺ transport, such as distal tubular and cortical collecting tubule cells in the kidney, and in enteric neuroendocrine cells.
